Darrell Green Celebrity Golf Tournament Benefits Richmond-Area Youths

Famous names and figures hit the green this past Monday, June 5 2017 to raise funds to support the Youth Life Foundation of Richmond at the 10th annual Darrell Green Celebrity Golf Tournament. Along with the help of the Foundation, George Mason Mortgage, LLC and Hallsley acted as presenting sponsors in putting together this event. In addition, Mr. Darrell Green, Hall of Fame Washington Redskin and Founder of the Darrell Green Youth Life Foundation, has been putting on this event throughout the years to offer celebrities and guests a charitable outlet of golf and socializing to help the Foundation’s mission.

According to their website, the Youth Life Foundation of Richmond operated Learning Centers to develop leaders by making long-term investments in children from at-risk communities. They suppose students academically to develop their character from a young age to raise expectations and invest in the students’ lives through committed mentoring relationships. Part of their vision is that these youths will rise above their circumstances to become tomorrow’s leaders through nurturing the child, strengthen the family and rebuild the community.

The tournament led off with an 11:00 a.m. shotgun at Brandermill Country Club and Birkdale Golf Club in Midlothian, Virginia. Players of the event included celebrities such as Bonecrusher Smith, Thomas McClary and Ralph Sampson. Although the rain throughout the tournament may not have been the ideal golf weather, the players still had a fun and eventful day networking and benefitting an amazing organization that produces excellence in every aspect of their children’s lives.
